UN expresses gratitude to Azerbaijani government

The United Nations has thanked the government of Azerbaijan for donating $500,000 in financial aid to the Haiti Emergency Relief Fund to help the quake victims,the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry said.

Haiti Emergency Relief Fund was established for a quick financial assistance to the organizations and agencies operating in the country during unpreventable emergency situations.

A sum of $82 million was transferred to the fund after a destructive earthquake rocked Haiti on January 12, 2010. Some $65 million of donations were spent on rescue operations.
