Azerbaijan`s minister of internal affairs Ramil Usubov and Dutch justice minister Ernst Hirsch Ballin have today signed a memorandum of understanding on non-operational cooperation.
Following the signing ceremony, the two discussed a variety of issues of mutual interest. They noted Azerbaijan and Netherlands have “huge” potential to further develop the bilateral ties.
Usubov gave highlighted the activities of the ministry. He also told of difficulties Azerbaijan faced in the beginning of the 90s.
The minister said due to “great” efforts by national leader Heydar Aliyev stability was restored in Azerbaijan in 1995 after a tense social-political situation in the country following the collapse of the USSR.
He said: “Today Azerbaijan`s policy, founded by national leader Heydar Aliyev and being successfully pursued by President Ilham Aliyev, aims to ensure fundamental human rights and freedoms in the country.”
