Azerbaijan's former ambassador to Kuwait Shahin Abdullayev has met Emir of the country Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah.
During the meeting, the Emir asked Abdullayev to convey his greetings to President Ilham Aliyev. He stressed the importance of the Azerbaijani President's visit to Kuwait in 2009 in terms of development of bilateral cooperation.
Emir thanked Abdullayev for his contribution to development of relationship between the two countries during his tenure. Abdullayev underlined the importance of President Ilham Aliyev's trip to Kuwait, as well. He also expressed hope the Emir of Kuwait would soon visit Azerbaijan.
Abdullayev said his country very appreciates the fact that Kuwait supports Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and sovereignty on the Nagorno Karabakh conflict.
For his part, the Emir said he intends to visit Azerbaijan in the near future. He added his country attaches great importance to cooperation with Azerbaijan. He described the relations between the two countries as “friendly and fraternal”.
The Emir also expressed assurance that the bilateral fruitful cooperation would continue to boost.
