French representative to NATO: Azerbaijan is open to outer world

A group of NATO experts are conducting extensive consultations on Azerbaijan, and the process of integration into the global community is as important as its result, Counselor to the French Permanent Mission to NATO Laure Borgamano said.

It is important that Azerbaijan is open to the outer world, Borgamano said on July 21 while speaking at a roundtable "NATO's new strategic concept" held in the Center for Strategic Studies (CSR) under the Azerbaijani President.

She said NATO's new concept indicates new forms of cooperation between NATO and the Gulf countries, South Caucasus and other countries

"We cannot take part in resolving regional conflicts at this stage. There are many organizations dealing with these issues. We can help only by providing consultations and exchange of opinions," she said.

Besides the Alliance's new strategic concept, the roundtable also discussed prospects of cooperation of NATO with the countries of South Caucasus, NATO's role in the existing security system, NATO's position in the world and combating terrorism.
