U.S. government has given technical assistance of $200,000 to form GUAM Secretariat

“Not only president and government have changed in Ukraine, Ukraine has started chairing GUAM,” Valeri Chechelashvili, Secretary General of GUAM - Organization for Democracy and Economic Development, said in Baku while answering the question about the change of government in Ukraine and its influence on the activity of the secretariat.

He mentioned that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Konstantin Grishchenko said to what projects and programs the country would pay attention during its chairmanship.

“These are the spheres of energy, trade, transit and tourism,” he said.

Noting that GUAM had great potential Chechelashvili said about 40 projects were being implemented in various spheres.

“Among them I would note projects on free trade zone, struggle against organized crimes, transport transit corridor in GUAM area and a number of energy projects. The interest in cooperation with the organization is increasing,” he said.
