Joseph Debono Grech: Azerbaijan is on the right track

Debono Grech said that he was appointed as the co-rapporteur on Azerbaijan six months ago and during that time has made two visits to the country.

"Azerbaijan has been a member of the Council of Europe for 10 years already. The country, which for years lived under the Soviet regime, is not able to learn in short time all the democratic values of the Council of Europe. During my visits and meetings held in Azerbaijan, I have witnessed a progress in this area. I hope that in the future, Azerbaijan will promote the values of CE in the region at a higher level. I also hope that with help of the Council of Europe, the government and the opposition country will achieve progress in democratization", said Debono Grech.
