"Azerbaijan has not yet asked PACE to observe parliamentary elections"

The Government of Azerbaijan has not yet asked the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to observe the parliamentary elections in the country this year, Veronika Kotek, Special Representative of the Secretary General of the Council of Europe, told journalists.

“As usual, the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe observes the parliamentary elections. Despite that PACE makes special decision regarding each country”.

Kotek said the decision was made after the government of the country conducting elections addressed PACE for observation. “Azerbaijan has not sent such message to PACE. I think it is too early”, she pointed out.
