Ilham Aliyev: Azerbaijan-Belarus relations developing very dynamically, positively - UPDATE - PHOTOS

Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev has hosted an official dinner in honor of Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, who was visiting Azerbaijan. Touching upon the relations between the two states, President Ilham Aliyev stressed the importance of high-level mutual visits to develop bilateral relations.

“Some important documents, which outline main directions of our bilateral cooperation, have been signed during the visit. Our high-level meetings have become regular. There have been four such visits during the last five years, which show how much importance we attach to our bilateral relations.”

President Alexander Lukashenko thanked his Azerbaijani counterpart for praising the two countries' relations.

The Belarusian leader hailed President Ilham Aliyev's role in ensuring Azerbaijan's all-round development. Alexander Lukashenko wished the people of Azerbaijan prosperity and happy future.

Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus have attended a groundbreaking ceremony for Belarus embassy in Baku. The Presidents saw the project and model of the building. They were informed of the new building of the embassy. Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Alexander Lukashenko put a time capsule into the facility's foundation and covered it with liquid concrete. Then, the presidents familiarized themselves with various devices produced by Ganja automobile plant.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev. The President also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko visited the Alley of Martyrs to commemorate Azerbaijani heroes who gave their lives for the country's independence and territorial integrity.

A ceremonial guard of honor was lined up for the Belarus President here. Lukashenko laid a wreath at the Eternal Flame monument. A military orchestra played the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Belarus.

Azerbaijan and Belarus signed several bilateral documents. Presidents Ilham Aliyev and Alexander Lukashenko signed a joint declaration of Presidents of the Republics of Azerbaijan and Belarus.

Chairperson of Azerbaijan's state committee for family, women and children affairs Hijran Huseynova and Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov signed “Agreement on cooperation between the State Committee for Family, Women and Children Affairs of Azerbaijan and the Ministry of Social Protection of Belarus”.

Chairman of the State Statistical Committee Arif Valiyev and Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov signed “Agreement on cooperation between the State Statistical Committee of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the National Statistical Committee of the Republic of Belarus in the field of statistics”.

Minister for ecology and natural resources of Azerbaijan Huseyngulu Bagirov and Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov signed “Agreement on cooperation between the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Natural Resources and Environmental Protection Ministry of the Republic of Belarus in the field of environmental protection”.

Chairman of the Azerbaijan Accounts Chamber Heydar Asadov and chairman of the Belarus State Control Committee Zenon Lomat signed “Agreement on cooperation between the Chamber of Accounts of the Republic of Azerbaijan and State Control Committee of the Republic of Belarus”.

President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences Mahmud Karimov and Chairman of the State Science and Technology Committee of Belarus Igor Voitov signed “Agreement on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus in the fields of science and technology”.

The Communications and Information Technologies Minister of Azerbaijan Ali Abbasov and Belarus Minister of Communications and Informatization Nikolay Panteley signed “Agreement on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus in the fields of informatization and information technologies”.

Economic development minister of Azerbaijan Shahin Mustafayev and Belarus Foreign Minister Sergei Martynov signed “Agreement on cooperation between the Republic of Azerbaijan and the Republic of Belarus in the field of promotion and mutual protection of investment”.

Presidents Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Alexander Lukashenko of Belarus had an expanded meeting which was joined by both countries' delegations.

Dear guests!

Once again I cordially welcome you to Azerbaijan. We pay great importance on your visit. I believe it will contribute to developing the relations between our states. Our relations are developing very dynamically, positively. We are working on many joint projects, and we are successful in it. We fulfill every task in a short period of time and with quality. This is why I think that your visit to our country will give a stronger boost to developing the bilateral relations. We plan to sign a number of documents, and we enjoy a broad legal base. I think that members of the delegation are also taking the advantage of this visit. And I know, that there are active contacts between members of our governments. However, I think discussing these issues once again would be beneficial. I believe we will explore new ways of developing our cooperation, find new areas, very promising areas – power engineering, agriculture, construction, tourism, and cooperation in the field of high technologies. I believe we`ll achieve good results. We`ve already deeply discussed the bilateral relations, regional issues and international affairs. I`m very pleased with our friendship and also with how effectively and positively our relations are developing. Once again I would like to express our gratitude to you, Ilham Heydarovich, and those who`ve been working with us for traditionally warm, friendly hospitality, which I and my colleagues have always felt in your country. Longstanding good traditions of close cooperation, mutual support between our nations are not just living but becoming stronger and stronger in these different conditions. Today our countries are moving forward on the path towards strengthening statehood, creating a powerful state. And, Ilham Heydarovich, with a little envy, I speak about what I feel three years after my last visit here when I see what is going on in Baku, and not only in the capital. There are cranes everywhere, large-scaled construction work is underway, and in the evenings there is a special spectacle when you see beautiful lighting. Your buildings are at the same time different. Honestly, I'm happy for you.

You've been doing everything very wisely. I told Ilham Heydarovich that if a country has a president who thinks of and loves his people this country has great prospects.

The Belarus leader said thanks to an active dialogue between the presidents and governments the two countries' trade increased several times over last five years. Lukashenko also pointed our there was a great potential to achieve much more in this regard.

They stressed the importance of the Belarus leader's official visit to Azerbaijan for expanding the bilateral relations. Presidents exchanged views over the bilateral ties and international issues as well.

A guard of honor was lined up for the Belarusian President at the square decorated with the national flags of Azerbaijan and Belarus. The Belarusian leader was welcomed here by Azerbaijan's President Ilham Aliyev.

Both presidents inspected a ceremonial Guard of Honor as a military orchestra played the national anthems of Azerbaijan and Belarus. Azerbaijan's state and government officials were introduced to President Alexander Lukashenko, while members of the Belarusian delegation to President Ilham Aliyev.
