A first meeting of an Azerbaijan-Lithuania Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation was held in Vilnius on May 27.
Azerbaijan's Taxes Minister Fazil Mammadov and Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis co-chaired the event.

The meeting featured discussions on bilateral cooperation in a variety of fields, including economy, energy, industry, agriculture, sports and youth affairs, culture and tourism, transport and information and communication technologies. The sides agreed to intensify the strengthening of legal basis for boosting the bilateral cooperation.

The event ended with the signing of a final protocol. Speaking to a post-meeting press conference, Mammadov and Azubalis said both countries were resolved to develop all-round cooperation.

The Lithuanian FM touched upon the “parliamentary elections” held by the separatist regime in Azerbaijan's Armenia-occupied Nagorno-Karabakh region, saying: “We completely support similar statements made by the European Union and OSCE.”

The next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission will take place in Baku.
