Azerbaijan's Supreme Court chairman meets CoE Director General of Human Rights and Legal Affairs

Mr. Rzayev briefed on the judiciary system of Azerbaijan, structure and activity of the Supreme Court. The Chairman told of relations with the European Court of Human Rights, application of the European Convention on Human Rights, cooperation with the EU member countries in legal system as well as the results of the high Level conference on the Future of the European Court of Human Rights held in Interlaken, Switzerland February 2010.

Mr. Boillat told of significance of the Political Declaration adopted at the Interlaken conference. He stressed the necessity of conducting of the joint trainings and conferences in the judiciary system. Mr. Boillat showed interest in conditions created in the country's courts and events to improve the legal system.

The guest praised a new building of the Supreme Court, the museum of history and conditions created for judges.
