Speaker of Azerbaijani parliament meets participants of TurkPA conference

Chairman of the Azerbaijani Parliament, the Milli Majlis, Ogtay Asadov has met with participants of the “TGNA-90 years, parliamentary diplomacy - TurkPA” conference.
The Azerbaijani speaker noted national leader Heydar Aliyev had put forward his ideas about establishment of such a parliamentary organization at a meeting of heads of Turkish-speaking states in Antalya. According to him, establishment of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkish-speaking countries suggests increasing influence of the Turkish world in the international arena.

Meetings of heads of Turkish-speaking countries lay groundwork for serous accomplishments. MM Speaker said Turkish countries` banding together is important from political, economic and moral points of view.

TurkPA expressed its desire to get an observer status in the PABSEC and OSCE PA.
“We believe that TurkPA will grow into the influential power in the region by expanding its ties with authoritative international organizations,” he said.

Deputy Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkey, head of the Turkish delegation Nevzat Paktil praised how well the conference was organized. He expressed hope other Turkish-speaking countries would become TurkPA members and this organization would play a positive role in solving problems of Turkish nations.

Head of the Kazakh delegation Kilishbay Bisenov delivered greetings to Ogtay Asadov from speakers of both houses of Kazakh parliament. He described Milli Majlis' housing the office of TurkPA secretariat as an example of great importance Azerbaijan attaches to this organization.
Present at the meeting were MM Deputy Speaker Ziyafet Asgarov, head of the parliament's administration Safa Mirzayev, chairman of the MM committee for culture Nizami Jafarov, TurkPA Secretary General Ramil Hasanov, Turkish ambassador to Azerbaijan Hulusi Kilic and other officials.
