“Azerbaijan and Egypt have strong ties and nothing can impede them,” Egypt`s foreign minister Ahmed Aboul Gheit has said at a joint press conference with his Azeri counterpart.
The Egyptian diplomat said both countries have “broad” opportunities for expanding their relations and should use them efficiently.

“Both countries cooperate within a large of international organizations including UN and OIC,” the minister outlined.

During a meeting with his Azeri counterpart prior to the press conference, Aboul Gheit was briefed on the status of the negotiations on the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.

“I hope this conflict will be resolved by peace through the mediation of Russia, the United States and France,” the minister stressed, adding Egypt fully supports territorial integrity of all countries.

According to Mammadyarov, Azerbaijan and Egypt signed agreements on cooperation in the fields of youth policy and sports and also to cancel a visa regime for holders of diplomatic and service passports. Also the Azerbaijan Diplomatic Academy and School of Diplomacy of Egypt signed an agreement on cooperation.

Visits of the National Leader of Azerbaijan Heydar Aliyev to Egypt and former President of Egypt Gamal Abdel Naser to Azerbaijan also contributed to establishing stable relations between two countries, Mammadyarov emphasized.
