Dennis Sammut: Great Britain's coalition government not to change policy towards Azerbaijan

Great Britain's new coalition government will preserve the country's policy towards Azerbaijan, Dennis Sammut, the head of the Great Britain's NGO Links said, Turkish news agency Cihan reported. May 11, Great Britain's coalition government headed by the Conservative Party leader David Cameron was formed for the first time in the last 65 years. The parliamentary elections May 6 has leaded to it, in which no party won an absolute majority of seats in the House of Commons.

While speaking with a lecture on Azerbaijan in a London University, Sammut said that Azerbaijan's global role has increased significantly thanks to increase of the world's energy demand. According to him, the situation has significantly played for the benefit of rich oil and gas of Azerbaijan. No one could imagine it ten years ago.

Sammut called the priority of Azerbaijan's foreign policy resolving of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan intends to intensify relations with Russia, along with the expansion of contacts with the U.S. and Israel, he added.
