Turkish Premier ends his official visit to Azerbaijan - UPDATE - PHOTOS

After their private meeting, President Ilham Aliyev of Azerbaijan and Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan have been joined by the two countries' delegations for wider talks.


President Ilham Aliyev said:

- Esteemed Mr. Prime Minister, my dear brother!  Distinguished guests!

I cordially welcome you to Azerbaijan. I believe your visit will be a success. We`ve had a wide exchange of views during our private meeting. We`ve once again examined all aspects of our bilateral relations. We`ve once again made certain that the friendly and brotherly Azerbaijan-Turkey relations are successfully developing, that our peoples are closely cooperating and that all our joint initiatives and projects are being successfully implemented. I believe that your visit will be a very significant step for our bilateral relations, and that it will produce good results.

Turkey and Azerbaijan, the friendly and brotherly countries, have been successfully cooperating, having a common position on challenges and tasks we face. I`m confident these traditions will be continued and our peoples will get closer to each other.

Dear brother, I once again welcome you to Azerbaijan.


Recep Tayyip Erdogan said:

- Thank you very much. We've had a chance to discuss with my dear brother the Azerbaijan-Turkey relations, regional situation and latest world developments. And our ministers have also had a chance – at least – to meet. Turkey and Azerbaijan are brothers, they are inseparable. We are members of one family. And, of course, as national leader Heydar Aliyev said, we are one nation, two states. We never forget this saying. And this, of course, is not only in our words, but also in our actions, and it will continue being so. We are the two countries who support each other to set our future. I believe that our joint efforts and work produce good results in all fields.

Each time I visit Azerbaijan I get pleasure of seeing its further progress, development. And during my current visit I`ve witnessed the same. And it is what gives us pleasure. Azerbaijan`s development, prosperity is our prosperity. And I believe that our prosperity is Azerbaijan`s prosperity. Our internal stability is also the stability of each of us. And I`m very pleased to be with you again. Of course, we will meet again at forthcoming international events. Thank you very much. I wish you successes.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan completed his official visit to Azerbaijan and left for Ankara on May 17. A guard of honor was lined up for the Turkish Premier at the Heydar Aliyev international airport decorated with the national flags of Azerbaijan and Turkey. The Turkish Prime Minister and his spouse Emine Erdogan were seen off by Deputy Prime Minister of Azerbaijan Yagub Eyyubov and other officials.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited the Alley of Honors to lay a wreath at the tomb of Azerbaijan's national leader Heydar Aliyev. The Turkish Prime Minister also put flowers at the grave of prominent ophthalmologist, academician Zarifa Aliyeva.

A monument to the founder of the Turkish Republic Mustafa Kemal Ataturk was inaugurated in Azerbaijan's capital, Baku on May 17. President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, first lady Mehriban Aliyeva and Turkish Premier Recep Tayyip Erdogan with his spouse Emine Erdogan attended the unveiling ceremony, which also brought together state and government officials, MPs, scientists and members of the general public.

A ceremonial guard of honor was lined up for the ceremony in a park in Baku's Nasimi district.
The Azerbaijani President and Turkish Prime Minister delivered remarks at the ceremony.
President Ilham Aliyev and Recep Tayyip Erdogan unveiled the monument and put a wreath at its foot.

The Azerbaijani President and Turkish Premier then posed for photographs together with their spouses in front of the monument.

Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan visited the memorial of Turkish soldiers in the Alley of Martyrs in Baku on May 17. Here, the Prime Minister laid a wreath at the memorial. The Prime Minister also signed the Memory Book.
