Georgia's first lady, Tuberculosis Ambassador of the Global Stop TB Partnership, Sandra Elisabeth Roelofs met Azerbaijani Minister of Health Ogtay Shiraliyev on May 14.
The minister highlighted the Azerbaijani government's reforms aimed at improving healthcare in the country.
“Outstanding achievements have been made in increasing the quality of health services due to President Ilham Aliyev's personal efforts. This included opening new clinics and hospitals, as well as adoption of a state program on development of healthcare sector among others.”
Shiraliyev in particular spoke of the ministry's anti-tuberculosis measures.
“We've been sparing no efforts to fight against tuberculosis, and effectively implemented the DOTS program of the World Health Organization”.
Roelofs highlighted the Georgian government`s healthcare reforms.
