Romania's foreign minister Teodor Baconschi has expressed his country's keenness to broaden cooperation with Azerbaijan.
Baconschi spoke to a press conference following a meeting with his Azeri counterpart Elmar Mammadyarov as part of his Baku visit.

“We, in particular, want to expand political and economic cooperation.”

Baconschi stressed the need to increase the bilateral trade.

“Today trade between Azerbaijan and Romania falls behind our potential. Romania is interested in expanding the scope of its business in Azerbaijan.”

On the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the Romanian FM said his country wanted the dispute to be peacefully solved, based on the principle of Azerbaijan`s territorial integrity.

Baconschi said Romania supported stability in the Black and Caspian seas region.

The minister also expressed his country`s baking of Azerbaijan’s policy relating to NATO and European Union.

Mammadyarov called the meeting with his Romanian counterpart “fruitful”.

“We've discussed current state of the bilateral relations and prospects for cooperation as well as latest regional developments,” said the Azeri FM.
