Azerbaijani parliament's speaker: Azerbaijan-Romania ties have reached strategic level

“Documents signed by heads of states during reciprocal visits have created a solid legal basis for further development of ties between Azerbaijan and Romania. Bilateral relations have reached the level of strategic partnership,” said Azerbaijani Parliament Speaker Ogtay Asadov while meeting Romanian Foreign Minister Teodor Baconschi.

Asadov praised the role of parliaments in boosting ties, saying “Azerbaijani and Romanian MPs enjoy common views on international events.”

The Azeri Speaker also hailed activities of the parliamentary friendship groups.

Touching upon the bilateral trade, Asadov said “the two countries have a potential to further increase the volume”.

The Romanian minister said his country was interested in expanding cooperation with Azerbaijan, describing the country as “the regional leader”.

Baconschi praised the Romania-Azerbaijan relations, in particular in the economic and business fields.

The two also exchanged views on the Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict.
