France awards former Azerbaijani ambassador national Order of Merit of Grand Officer

Azerbaijan's former ambassador in Paris Tarik Aliyev has been awarded France's National Order of Merit of the Grand officer class.
Aliyev received the award from Roland Galarag, Director of the Department for Continental Europe at the French Foreign Ministry, who praised the Azeri diplomat`s tenure in Paris.

“Aliyev greatly contributed to developing the French-Azerbaijani relations,” said Galarag.

The former ambassador thanked the French government for the award, expressing assurance the bilateral relations would further expand.

He said: “Relationship between the two countries was established by national leader Heydar Aliyev, and today is being developed due to President Ilham Aliyev`s efforts.”

Following the award-giving ceremony, the French foreign ministry hosted an official reception in honor of Aliyev.

The event gathered French MPs, government officials, former French ambassadors to Azerbaijan, representative of several French companies and members of the Azerbaijani community in France.
