Azerbaijan's chief electoral officer meets CoE observation mission

Chief of Azerbaijan Central Election Commission Mazahir Panahov met members of observation mission of the Council of Europe`s Congress of Local and Regional Authorities to monitor the forthcoming municipal elections in the country on Dec. 21.

Panahov said the CEC attaches special importance to cooperation with international organizations.

Touching upon the pre-election situation, he noted all polling stations were ready for the voting.

He underlined voter education projects had been carried out in the country.

According to Panahov, more than 50 thousand observers were registered to monitor the upcoming elections. Mass media representatives do not need to be registered, he added.

Panahov also replied to some questions of the mission members.

The sides also exchanged views on prospects for cooperation between CoE and CEC.
