Iran to lift visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens next year

The Islamic Republic of Iran has unilaterally lifted visa regime for Azerbaijani citizens, Iranian ambassador to Azerbaijan Mahammad Bagir Bahrami said at a news conference on Dec. 7.

The ambassador said Azerbaijani citizens could now travel to Iran without visa and stay there for a month.

“If they need to stay there more than a month, they should return home and then to travel to Iran again”.

Ambassador Bahrami said if this experience proves efficient, Iran can prolong this term up to three months.

The ambassador said he hoped the visa-free travel would be implemented from the beginning of next year and Azerbaijan, in its turn, would decide to provide visa-free travels for Iranian citizens to Azerbaijan.
