04 December 2009 [12:32] - TODAY.AZ
One of the plenary meetings of NATO’s Planning Board for Inland Surface Transport will likely be held in Baku, chief of security and emergency situations department of the Transport Ministry Kazim Sharifov said.

Sharifov said NATO offered to hold the plenary meeting in Baku in May, 2011.

The North Atlantic Cooperation Council has already appealed to Azerbaijani government in this regard.

NATO’s proposal is being considered. Azerbaijan has not given an official answer yet.

The main task of the Planning Board for Inland Surface Transport is to study the current transport infrastructure of member and partner states for NATO operations, form proposals and make reports under the instruction of NATO’s military wing.

Azerbaijan regularly attends the Board’s meetings.
