Azerbaijani interior minister puts forward additional charges against editor-in-chief

Yasamal district court held hearing on the suit filed by Azerbaijani Interior Minister Ramil Usubov against editor-in-chief of the Femida 007 newspaper Eyyub Karimov on Nov. 26.
Ramil Usubov’s lawyer Alirza Abilov addressed the hearing.

The lawyer said Karimov’s views that insulted honor and dignity of Azerbaijani police were published in the Femida 007 and Azadlig newspapers. They also contained elements of crime.

Karimov said there are groundless moments in the suit.

He said the claimant should file appeals based on a concrete evidence.

Karimov also said the honor and dignity of the police were not insulted in those articles.

The hearing has been postponed till Dec. 7.

Interior Minister Ramil Usubov filed a suit against Eyyub Karimov on article 147.2 (slander) of the Criminal Code.

Karimov published articles about the Interior Ministry in the Azadlig and Femida 007 newspapers.
