Nearly 1,000 candidates to run for municipal elections from Azerbaijan Unified Popular Front Party

“Nearly 1,000 candidates will contest the coming municipal elections in 650 municipalities from our party,” Azerbaijan Unified Popular Front Party Deputy Chairman for international affairs Elchin Mirzabayli said.

He said exact number of candidates will be defined on Nov. 13 as soon as signature collection campaign completes.

“We will define the funding to be allocated for our candidates after Nov. 13. We will have a single platform and a single slogan,” Mirzabayli said.

“Our candidates include men, women and youth. Most members of our party are representatives of youth and middle age people,” he said.

“Prior to the municipal elections our party may support parties that would ask our help,” he said.

Azerbaijan will hold municipal elections on Dec. 23. Candidates will contest 15,682 places in 1,718 municipalities.

Signature collections campaign of candidates will last till Nov. 13.
