UAE company cooperates with Karabakh separatists – Photo

03 November 2009 [12:49] - TODAY.AZ
Day.Az editorial staff has received a letter about the Dubai-based UAE company Etisalat (http://etisalat.ae/) that provides a wide range of Internet, television, and communication services.

The letter also says that Etisalat has made a gross error concerning Azerbaijan’s territorial integrity. The company cooperates with Karabakh Telecom and implements roaming services in the Armenian-occupied territories of the Azerbaijan Republic.

A list of countries where company’s roaming services are available can be download in a PDF format from this page. The list also includes Armenia and also Karabakh Telecom that operates in the country.

So, Etisalat believes that Nagorno-Karabakh belongs to Armenia. Moreover, the company not only presents a legitimate part of Azerbaijan’s territory (which is also in the above list) separately from the country, but also provides roaming services in the occupied territories. This is certainly is a direct violation of all international norms.

We urge Today.az readers to send a letter of protest to the UAE operator at [email protected].

Sample letter :

To the attention of Etisalat executives and operators!

You list Armenia as one of the countries where your services are available and also indicate Karabakh Telecom as one of the operators you have the roaming agreement with. Nagorno Karabakh is an internationally recognized part of Azerbaijan (which is also listed among the countries) and therefore cannot belong to Armenia in any way. Since Nagorno Karabakh is a part of Azerbaijan, the roaming agreement your company has with Karabakh Telecom violates all international rights and harms Azerbaijan's interests.

Nagorno-Karabakh is an integral part of Azerbaijan as stated also by international acts. We believe these errors are not deliberate, and urge you to correct them as soon as possible.

Thank you in advance
