No constructive opposition in Azerbaijan: MP from ruling party

29 October 2009 [11:38] - TODAY.AZ
“Azerbaijani opposition will fail to achieve success in the coming municipal elections,” member of the Azerbaijani parliament and member of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party Political Council Eldar Ibrahimov said.
"The opposition is too ambitious and can not agree among themselves. The opposition even lacks candidates who would compete in the municipal elections,” he said.

"The same persons have been in opposition for many years. After all, they can not stay in  opposition for 50 years. The opposition fails to succeed in municipal, parliamentary or presidential elections. They make use of the same methods,” Ibrahimov said.

“Have they ever made any efficient proposal to authorities? Currently, there is no constructive opposition in Azerbaijan,” he said.

According to the schedule, the registration of observers in the CEC will continue until Dec. 13 and in the district electoral commissions - till Dec. 18.
