Armenian MP engaged in misinformation: Azerbaijani parliamentarian

Member of the parliamentary faction of the Republican Party of Armenia (RPA) Gagik Minasyan is engaged in misinformation, member of Azerbaijan’s Milli Majlis (parliament) Asaf Hajiyev said commenting on a statement by Armenian MP Gagik Minasyan who said Azerbaijan’s representative raised the issue of the occupied territories at the BSEC Parliamentary Assembly meeting.

Minasyan claimed that during the meeting Azerbaijan’s representative was engaged in spreading “misinformation” about Nagorno-Karabakh.

"At the meeting of the BSEC PA for environmental matters held in Thessaloniki on October 21-22, I spoke about water problems and that the monitoring shows that Armenia pollutes the Kura River, forests are burned in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan which affects water resources of the region,” Hajiyev said.

“Gagik Minasyan did not respond to my speech. The following day another Azerbaijani MP Zhala Aliyev also spoke about the harm inflicted to the occupied Azerbaijani territories. Suddenly Minasyan stood up saying that Nagorno-Karabakh is an independent state,” he said.
 
“At that time the chairman of the meeting made remarks to Minasyan to “speak to the point.” But he did not stop and answered him that Azerbaijan pursues independent policy and never put claims to neighboring territories, unlike Armenia, which puts territorial claims not only to Azerbaijan but also to the territories of Georgia and Turkey,” Hajiyev said.
