Turkey to send no additional troops to Afghanistan

PM Erdogan said Turkey does not plan to send more troops to Afghanistan, Worldbulletin reported.
Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan met Sunday with his Pakistani counterpart Yousuf Raza Gilani in Pakistan's capital, Islamabad.

The two prime ministers appeared at a joint press conference.

On another question about Turkish troops to be sent to Afghanistan, Erdogan said Turkey would not send more troops to the country.

"We have currently around 1,700-1,800 troops there and we do not have plan to send more," he said.

Turkey will assume command of the International Security Assistance Force in Afghanistan from Nov. 1, 2009.
