Azerbaijan hands over BSEC chairmanship to Bulgaria

Azerbaijan has handed over BSEC chairmanship to Bulgaria.
Bulgaria has undertaken presidency at the Black Sea Economic Cooperation (BSEC) and will take up the office on Nov. 1, Azerbaijani Deputy Foreign Minister Mahmud Mammadguliyev told journalists in Baku on Oct. 22 at the end of the 21st meeting of the BSEC Council of Foreign Ministers.

In Nov. Baku will host a meeting of minister of communication and information technologies under Bulgaria's chairmanship, Mammadguliyev said.

The Baku meeting stressed the necessity of solving problems exiting in the BSEC member states, he added.

Bulgarian foreign minister Rumiana Zheleva said that the organization's activities during her country's presidency will be directed at increasing efficiency of the role of working groups of the BSEC Secretariat and enhancing cooperation with the European Union and Black Sea basin countries.

"We will try to achieve development of relations between the BSEC and the European Commission and involve it to participate in the organization as an observer," Zheleva said.
