Union for Democracy to cooperate with opposition groups in period of agitation on referendum

He said the unity of opposition against introduction of amendments to the Azerbaijani Constitution in period of referendum is necessary.

"After the agitation groups of opposition are registered in the Central Electoral Commission, it is necessary to hold session of leaders, during which this issue will be discussed.

"In this connection, the union plans to appeal on cooperation both to the parties, which founded the agitation groups and to those that are beyond this process", noted he.

Notably, the initiative group submitted over 44,000 signatures to the Central Electoral Commission for registering the agitation gtoup.

The Union for Democracy includes the Classical Popular Front Party of Azerbaijan, Azadlyg party, Popular Party of Azerbaijan (the party is represented by Milli Medjlis deputy Panah Huseyn), Great Azerbaijan party and National-Democratic Party of Azerbaijan.

The referendum on introduction of amendments to the Constitution is planned to be held on March 18.
