President of Azerbaijan: "Armenian policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijani people has caused great damage to our historical monuments" - PHOTO

The film "Carpet", featuring ancient Azerbaijani national craft has been demonstrated during the ceremony. It also speaks about care of national leader Heydar Aliyev, President Ilham Aliyev and President of Heydar Aliyev's Foundation, UNESCO and ISESCO goodwill ambassador, Milli Medjlis deputy Mehriban Aliyev for preservation and development of Azerbaijani national crafts, including carpet weaving.

President noted that art of carpet weaving is close for each Azerbaijani, as no one in Azerbaijan can imagine his life without carpet.

I.Aliyev welcomed Austrian architects, who played a great role in creation of the project of the museum and noted that their proposal turned out to be better than others and won an open tender.

He also welcomed UNESCO director general Mr. Matsuura, visiting Azerbaijan, expressed his respect towards the Azerbaijani people and stressed successful development of relations between UNESCO and Azerbaijan.

"We attach special importance to protection of cultural heritage, historical monuments in Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan is a multinational country and historical monuments of all peoples, residing here, are protected and restored on the due level. Unfortunately, all the occupied monuments, belonging to our people, have been destroyed in the Azerbaijani lands, occupied by Armenians. The policy of ethnic cleansing against Azerbaijani people caused damage to our historical monuments. We respect the history of all people, residing in Azerbaijan, and are dealing with these issues in the practical activity", said the President
