02 May 2008 [11:24] - TODAY.AZ
A meeting between the members of the group of the German-Azerbaijani friendship and the delegation of the Bavarian parliament was held in the parliament of Azerbaijan today.
Member of the group of friendship Asim Mollazade, welcoming the guests, familiarized them with the history of the Azerbaijani parliament.

In particular, he noted that the 90th anniversary of Milli Medjlis will be marked this year and the parliament of Azerbaijan gave women the right to vote before US and many European countries.

"At present Azerbaijan is a young country, integrated into the Euro-Atlantic area, cooperating with NATO", he said. Then, Mollazade informed the visitors about the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and Armenia's occupation of 20% of Azerbaijani lands.

In turn, Manfred Ah, head of the delegation of Bavarian parliament, voiced regret that there have been no contacts with the South Caucasus countries, including with Azerbaijan, so far.

"This visit will help lay a foundation for implementation of various projects. Bavaria is a region poor in resources, and cooperation in this sphere is important. We can help with implementation of projects, regarding science and education", M.Ah.
