Ramiz Mehtiyev: "Free and democratic elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn and people will elect Ilham Aliyev by majority of votes"

No one will be allowed to repeat the events, which occurred following the presidential elections in Armenia.

The due announcement was made by Ramiz Mekhtiyev, head of the presidential administration, Novosti-Azerbaijan reports.

"No one will be allowed to repeat the events, which occurred following the presidential elections in Armenia. No one will have so much power. Free and democratic elections will be held in Azerbaijan in autumn and people will vote for Ilham Aliyev by majority of votes", said Mehtiyev.

Touching upon the changes in composition of the electoral commissions before the coming elections of the President of Azerbaijan, scheduled for October 15 of 2008, Mehtiyev noted that there would not be any changes, "they are formed correctly".

He said sociopolitical stability, which leads the country to progress has established in Azerbaijan and therefore people must support this stability and speak against its enemies. The authorities will also cooperate with all international organizations, which will arrive in Azerbaijan to observe the elections.

Mehtiyev announced that opposition's attempt to boycott presidential elections will not give desired results.

Touching upon the meetings of the opposition, held in May, Mehtiyev said the following.

"If opposition is able to gather its supporters for rallies, it can hold them, But we do not understand the purpose of these mass actions".
