Representatives of American-Azerbaijani Council meet with Los Angeles mayor - PHOTO

On April 26, representatives of the American-Azerbaijani Council (AAC)-Javid Huseynov, Aidan Mirza and Elchin Mirzayev took part in the Muslim -Jewish Seder in Los Angeles by invitation of the American Jewish Committee, the most influential organization of the Jewish community in the United States.

The event, arranged on the occasion of the anniversary of the Passover (exodus of Moses and Jews from Egypt) for the purpose of a dialogue, cooperation and peaceful co-existence of representatives of two large religious confessions, was attended by representatives of various Muslim and Jewish communities of Los Angeles, as well as mayor of the city Antonia Viyareigos, famous for his pro-Armenian outlooks.

During the meeting, the AAC representatives met with the Los Angeles mayor and informed the visitor about the history of peaceful co-existence of the Jewish community in Azerbaijan, continuing till present. AAC president Javid Huseynov also reminded the mayor that Azerbaijan is the only secular Muslim country, after Turkey, which supports friendly relations with Israel and said that tolerance and respect to different religious confessions is the basis of Azerbaijani national culture,

The event was also attended by Elman Abdullayev, vice-general consul of Azerbaijan in Los Angeles.
