Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry confirmed the fact that the Armenian special forces members attempted to commit diversion in Azerbaijan.

The due announcement was made by spokesman for Azerbaijan's Defense Ministry Eldar Sabiroghlu, according to Day.Az.

He said the militaries of the department neutralized the Armenian servicemen who tried to commit diversion in Azerbaijan.

"The investigation revealed that they are the members of special forces of the Armenian armed forces and there are only four of them", said Sabiroghlu.

The spokesman noted that investigation of the case is currently underway.

The Azeri media’s reports that the Azeri armed forces captured an Armenian subversive group do not correspond to the truth, said RA Defense Minister’s Spokesman, colonel Seyran Shahsuvaryan.

“Actually, four Armenian citizens – Vanik Chmboyan from Gavar, Artem Zohrabyan, Karen Torosyan and Aghasi Yenokyan from Noragyugh village - went to the village of Khachik to meet a friend. Coming back, they lost their way finding themselves in Nakhijevan,” he said.

“Presently, all four are kept in the Azeri National Security Service cell in Azerbaijan. The Armenian side addressed to the International Red Cross Office in Baku for assistance to transfer the captives back to Armenia,” colonel Shahsuvaryan said, according to PanARMENIAN.Net.
