Armenian Foreign Ministry: "We are for continuation of the negotiation process in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group on the basis of the Madrid document"

16 April 2008 [09:09] - TODAY.AZ
Armenia speaks for continuation of the negotiation process on the Karabakh conflict, said acting spokesman for Armenian Foreign Ministry Tigran Balayan.
"We are for the continuation of the negotiation process in the framework of the OSCE Minsk Group on the basis of the Madrid document", said Balayan, commenting on the announcement of Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Elmar Mamedyarov about his readiness to meet with new Foreign Minister of Armenia Edward Nalbandyan, appointed to this post on April 14.

At the same time, Balayan noted that there have not been any proposals from the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs on conduction of the meeting.

It should be reminded that in November of 2007 the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairs presented basic principles of the peaceful resolution of the Karabakh conflict for consideration to the Presidents of Armenia and Azerbaijan. The co-chairs consider Madrid proposals to be just and balanced.

At the same time, the conflict parties were proposed to complete the current stage of talks by approving the basic principles and immediately pass to the new stage-development of the draft comprehensive peace agreement.
