Kiro Manoyan: "Serzh Sarkisyan will be obliged to change Armenia's approaches to Karabakh conflict"

08 April 2008 [15:59] - TODAY.AZ
Armenia's new president Serzh Sarkissyan will be obliged to change Armenia's position on the resolution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict, said head of Ay Dat office Kiro Manoyan in Yerevan.
"Armenia has been too correct in this issue, but now when Azerbaijan has toughened its stance,  our steps should become adequate. The adoption of the Azerbaijan-initiated resolution on Nagorno Karabakh by the UN General Assembly evidences that Baku is not satisfied with the talks in the format of the OSCE Minsk Group", Manoyan notd.

He said OSCE Minsk Group agrees that the issue of Nagorno Karabakh should be settled based on the principle of the self-determination of the people of Karabakh. "It can only mean that the status of Nagorno Karabakh is defined outside Azerbaijan, which Baku can not accept.

It is not guaranteed that the conflict will be settled by way of talks. Therefore, Armenia should toughen and specify its positions and in this sense Robert Kocharyan's statement on possible recognition of Nagorno Karabakh by Armenia should be assessed in this sense", Manoyan noted.
