05 April 2008 [10:23] - TODAY.AZ
"The tragedy of Armenian people, which occurred in Turkey in 1915, was caused by the fact that separatist Armenian armed groupings turned their backs to Turkey, the country they resided in, during the Russian-Turkish war", said professor Mijgail Agarunov, one of the leading figures in the cultural life of Mountain Jews of Israel.

He said the response was immediate: Armenians also suffered from it with hundreds of thousands killed or sent to exile.

"The same way did the feckless and callous Armenian Nazis betray their compatriots, residing in Azerbaijan, 20 years ago", he said,

"By driving all Azerbaijanis away from Armenia, they realized well that the response will follow this action.

He said some Knesset deputies, who do not know the history of Holocaust, should also familiarize with scientific publications on events, which occurred in Turkey and Azerbaijan. in order not to demonstrate their negligence while raising such issues on a state level.

The professor noted that in the childhood he used to hear from elderly Jews about the tragic events in Guba in 1918, which brought sufferings not only to Azerbaijanis, but also to Mountain Jews.

"The presentation of the book "Tango of Death" by famous Azerbaijani scientist Rovshan Mustafayevm which was published by R-Club in Moscow, was held in Israel not along ago. We admire the scientist who recalled the sufferings of the Jewish people. Our deputies should also familiarize with this book. I would say in honor of our parliamentarians, that most spoke against the consideration of the Armenian issue in Knesset", he said.

He also recalled the civil position of Josef Shagal, deputy from "Our home Israel" party.

"Only his state position and logically correct speech prevented the adoption of the resolution, lobbied by pro-Armenian deputies and abusing the feelings of Jews, in Knesset", he concluded.
