Imprisoned chief editor of Azadlyg Newspaper to lodge complaint to European Court

The complaint of imprisoned editor-in-chief of the Azadlyg newspaper Ganimat Zahid will be lodged to the European Court of Human Rights by the end of this month, as told by reporter's defender Elchin Sadygov.

He said the complaint points out the unfair arrest of G.Zahid and violation of Article 5 of the European Convention for Protection of Human Rights (right for freedom and personal immunity).

"The complaint is currently being translated into English", the defender noted.

It should be reminded that by a resolution of the Yasamal district court G.Zahid was applied a preventive measure in a form of a two-month arrest. The Baku Court of Appeal retained the resolution. G.Zahid is accused of hooliganism and causing deliberate harm to human health.
