Increasing the number of Azerbaijani peacekeepers in Afghanistan to be discussed

Soon the issue on increasing the number of Azerbaijani peacekeepers in Afghanistan is expected to be discussed in the meetings of Parliament.

The measures will be taken to increase the number of Azerbaijani soldiers serving in the composition of International Security Assistance Force (ISAF). The member of standing commission on security and defense issues Zahid Oruj told the APA that no document has been received on this issue in Parliament.

Oruj said that this appeal can be considered if admitted.

NATO's coordinator for Azerbaijan Lorenz Meyer Minennan stressed that they got official Baku's approval on increasing of number of Azerbaijani peacekeepers serving in the composition of ISAF recently.

Azerbaijani peacekeepers participate in the peace operations in Afghanistan, Kosovo and Iraq. There are 30 Azerbaijani servicemen in Afqhanistan.
