Iranian FM rejects secret talks with US over nuclear case

07 February 2007 [17:07] - TODAY.AZ
Foreign Minister Manouchehr Mottaki Tuesday dismissed the idea of holding secret talks between Tehran and Washington to settle their differences over Iran's peaceful nuclear activities.

Mottaki, who was speaking to the Qatar-based Al-Jazeera TV channel, assessed as "incorrect" issues over calls for secret talks between Iran and the US.

"The US policy in the Middle East region is false and will lead to further disputes.

"The US officials recently announced they will arrest Iranians in Iraq but found no Iranians to arrest and, therefore, decided to attack the country's consulate in Iraq's Erbil city," the minister said.

He criticized the abduction of the Iranian diplomats by US forces in Erbil and called for their speedy release. IRNA
