The results of the Council of Europe (CE) PACE summer session are, undoubtedly, positive for Azerbaijan, the Milli Mejlis (MM) PACE delegation member, Asim Mollazade told Trend.
«The principal thing, the PACE session showed, the cooperation between Azerbaijan and the CE exists, there is a mutual understanding and there are definite moves towards establishing democratic institutions in Azerbaijan, studying those issues, the CE puts to Azerbaijani government and the public. And the work is underway in each of these trends”, he said.

«The CE, without any doubts, wants to help our country hold democratic reforms, elections in line with the CE and democratic states’ standards. And all discussions, all documents prepared are aimed at the quickest integration of Azerbaijan into the European structures. There were very serious discussions, relevant resolutions have been adopted, Mollazade added. The CE is a very important institution for Azerbaijan. Thanks to cooperation with the CE Azerbaijan has the opportunity of setting up democratic institutions, corresponding to those principles and values, which the CE defends. And our country, fulfilling their commitments, gets even closer to Europe.

Touching upon the political prisoners issue, Mollazade said, that the main thing is that the CE appreciated highly setting up of the working group, involving representatives of the executive authorities, the Parliament and non-governmental human rights organizations in Azerbaijan. This working group will continue carrying out its serious analyses, he added.
