Today the Baku International Humanitarian Forum is appreciated on all continents and countries thanks to Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev’s successful policy, chairman of the board of Azerbaijan’s AZERTAC news agency Aslan Aslanov told reporters in Baku on Oct. 26.

He stressed that the Baku International Humanitarian Forum is a global platform where current issues and problems are discussed.

"This forum, which is an initiative of the presidents of Azerbaijan and Russia, originates from the idea of bringing together famous scientists, politicians, public figures, experts, economists, journalists from around the world has fully justified itself over the past period," Aslanov added.

“The scope of coverage of the forum is expanding and interest in it is gradually growing,” he said.

"Azerbaijan has become a center for inter-civilization dialogue and the world is already accepting that,” Aslanov said. “We can proudly say that as a result of the successful policy of President Aliyev, the Baku International Humanitarian Forum is appreciated on all continents and countries.”

“Interest in this forum is great,” he said. “You know that the plenary sessions, as well as working sessions on various topics are held during the forum. The threat to stability in the world, which is created as a result of fake news, the policy of disinformation were discussed during today's working session."

Stressing that journalism is undergoing great changes, Aslanov said that the competition between traditional media and online journalism, willy-nilly, creates new challenges, problems and threats.

“One of these threats is artful use of fake news by some forces using social networks, disinformation to launch the information war, spreading of false information against various countries and peoples,” Aslanov said. “Today, there is an even greater need to intensify the struggle of traditional media against disinformation policy.”

“Azerbaijan is also one of the countries suffering from disinformation,” he said.

“For example, the Armenian armed forces occupied 20 percent of Azerbaijani lands, destroyed our monuments, cemeteries,” Aslanov added. “However, shamelessly spreading false information about Azerbaijan, they are trying to mislead the world community. The Baku International Humanitarian Forum and other similar international events are also important from the point of view of exposing such malevolent forces."

Held under the slogan “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development”, the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum that kicked off Oct. 25 brought together 581 delegates from 86 countries and 24 international organizations.
