Baku hosts forum on Sustainable Development

Baku hosted the forum on Sustainable Development as part of the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum on 25 October, 2018 under the slogan “Strengthening the Regional Partnership on Implementation of Sustainable Development Goals”.

Riccardo Giovannini, Climate Change and Sustainability Services Partner of EY for Mediterranean Area (Italy, Spain, Portugal), was a panelist and keynote speaker. He noted the essential role of Sustainable Development Goals and how private businesses can integrate these goals into their business processes to enhance their performance, as well as, stay competitive in a world where sustainability is becoming increasingly critical for success.

Ali Ahmadov, Deputy Prime Minister and Chairman of the National Council for Sustainable Development featured the 6th Baku International Humanitarian Forum and the Baku Forum on Sustainable Development as landmark events.

Inga Ronda, President of the United Nations Economic and Social Council (ECOSOC), stated the importance of giving assistance to the private sector together with other sectors in order to accomplish the Sustainable Development Goals.

According to Ghulam Isaczai, UN Resident Coordinator in Azerbaijan, Baku Forum plays an important role in contribution to the achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals in 2030. He also expressed his gratitude to the Azerbaijani Government for its cooperation with the UN office in the country.
