Akif Alizade: Baku Humanitarian Forum enjoying global interest

The Baku International Humanitarian Forum is enjoying interest at the global level, President of the Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences (ANAS), Academician Akif Alizade said at round table discussions on the theme "Investing in Future: Towards Sustainable and Inclusive Development".

He said the forum is being held at the initiative of President Ilham Aliyev.

"The main driving force of social progress is science, which can help solve many problems of society," Alizade added. “The 21st century is called the 'age of physics'. However, biology began to increasingly acquire value, and the number of researches this area has increased by many times."

"Serious advances are expected in molecular biology in the coming years. Today, the development of ICT exerts great influence on our lives. Around the world, less attention has been paid to the humanities, but the interest in the technical sciences has increased," the president of ANAS said.

The 6th International Humanitarian Forum, the theme of which is “Shaping a New World and a New Humanity: Creativity and Human Development”, began its work in Baku Oct. 25. More than 580 people, including 416 foreign guests from 86 countries and 24 international organizations, participate in the two-day forum.
