When listing foreign states, we do not include Azerbaijan into this category, the Chairman of the Great National Assembly (Parliament) of Turkey Binali Yildirim said, speaking at a solemn meeting dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijani Parliament.

"We belong to the same nation. Our freedom and prosperity are linked to each other. We share joy and sorrow. We have common hopes, dreams and ideals. We speak the same language, think alike," Binali Yildirim said.

Yildirim noted that 100 years ago Azerbaijan and Turkey waged a fierce struggle not to be erased from the historical scene.

"The Azerbaijan Democratic Republic was established a hundred years ago. Some 100 years ago, the Azerbaijani Parliament fulfilled an important task. Even today, the Parliament plays a big role in the achievements of Azerbaijan. After the restoration of independence, Azerbaijan has passed a long way of development and achieved economic success. This development can be seen when passing through the streets of Baku. Thanks to the path outlined by the great leader Heydar Aliyev, and under the leadership of President Ilham Aliyev, Azerbaijan has achieved great success and made an important contribution to peace and stability in the region. Turkey has always been close to Azerbaijan and supported its independence," he said.

He stressed that Azerbaijan and Turkey have jointly implemented important projects to strengthen cooperation in the region.

"The construction of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline, the Baku-Tbilisi-Kars railway line and other similar initiatives serve to deepen cooperation," the chairman added.
