President Aliyev receives UK PM's trade envoy to Azerbaijan

President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received the UK Prime Minister's Trade Envoy to Azerbaijan Baroness Emma Nicholson.

The president expressed gratitude to Baroness Emma Nicholson for her visit to Azerbaijan to participate in the official opening ceremony of the Southern Gas Corridor and the 25th Anniversary International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition.

President Aliyev recalled his recent visit to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland.

During the meeting the sides stressed the successful development of bilateral relations between Azerbaijan and UK in the political, economic, energy and other spheres. The sides also emphasized the continuous fruitful cooperation between BP and Azerbaijan’s State Oil Company SOCAR.

Touching upon the importance of the official opening ceremony of the Southern Gas Corridor and the 25th Anniversary International Caspian Oil and Gas Exhibition, Baroness Emma Nicholson stressed the symbolism of the coincidence of these events with the 100th anniversary of the Azerbaijan Democratic Republic.

Baroness Emma Nicholson appreciated these events as significant ones and conveyed congratulations to President Aliyev in this regard.
