President Aliyev receives delegation led by ILO director-general

President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev has received a delegation led by Director-General of the International Labour Organization (ILO) Guy Ryder.

Noting that this is his first visit to Azerbaijan, Ryder stressed that he is deeply satisfied with the visit.

Ryder further congratulated the head of state on his re-election as the president of Azerbaijan. Stressing that he closely watched President Aliyev's speech at the inauguration ceremony, he said the views voiced there on social and labor issues aroused great interest.

He noted that the thoughts voiced by President Aliyev on further improving the welfare of the population, providing social protection, creating jobs are of great importance.

Emphasizing the successful cooperation between Azerbaijan and the organization he heads, Ryder voiced hope that the visit will contribute to the strengthening of the ties.

President Aliyev expressed gratitude for the congratulation and warm words, and noted the importance of the "Towards Sustainable Development Goals: Promoting Long-Term Development and Decent Work" international conference, held in Baku.

The head of state said that important work has been carried out over the past years to develop the Azerbaijani economy, including in the areas of labor and social security of the population, and particularly, great success has been achieved in rapidly reducing the unemployment level.

President Aliyev added that in connection with the demographic growth, which is traditional and happening at a high pace thanks to the economic development, the country faces such an important task as creation of new jobs in the future. The president stressed that appropriate measures are being taken in this regard.

Touching upon the importance of cooperation between Azerbaijan and the ILO, the head of state expressed confidence in its successful continuation.
