Trend:

Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev has signed an order to mark the 10th anniversary of the Baku Process.

Under the document, together with relevant government bodies the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of the Republic of Azerbaijan will develop and implement an action plan to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Baku Process, taking into account the proposals of partner international organizations.

In October 2009, a Communiqué titled "Baku Process-Fostering Dialogue and Cultural Diversity: New Challenges for Dialogue between Civilizations" was adopted at the Baku-hosted 6th Conference of Ministers of Culture of the Islamic countries which was initiated by the government of Azerbaijan to strengthen cooperation between the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation and member states of the Council of Europe.

In 2010, the Baku Process grew from a regional initiative into a global platform.

Over the past decade, numerous international events and projects have been implemented in Azerbaijan as part of the Baku Process.

Organized in partnership with UNESCO, the UN Alliance of Civilizations, the UN World Tourism Organization (WTO), the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO), the Council of Europe, the Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (ISESCO), World Forums on Intercultural Dialogue have become a global platform of the United Nations and its institutions in building and developing intercultural dialogue and combating racial discrimination and intolerance.

The Baku Process resulted in the organization of the 7th Global Forum of the United Nations Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC) in Baku last April.
