Artillery fire on sea targets to be conducted at Sea Cup - 2017

The warships of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan will carry out artillery fire on the sea targets within the Sea Cup – 2017 international contest.

The Azerbaijani Defense Ministry reported on August 2 that during this episode of the contest, a small missile ship Grad Sviyazhsk of the Russian Navy will conduct the artillery shooting exercise as the first. Then, it will be followed by the rocket-artillery ship Sariarka of the Kazakh Navy and a patrol-guard ship G-124 of the Azerbaijani Navy. The missile boat Joshan of the Iranian Navy will perform as the last one.

At the first stage, which will last until August 4, the crews of warships will also compete in the destruction of air targets and the simulated floating mines.

A solemn opening ceremony of the Sea Cup - 2017 was held at Seaside National Park in Baku on August 1. The contest involves ship teams of the Navies of Azerbaijan, Russia, Iran and Kazakhstan. Moreover, representatives of the Armed Forces of Turkey, Saudi Arabia and Bahrain will observe the competition.

As many as 300 personnel is involved in the Sea Cup – 2017. The competition includes three stages – artillery firing, ship damage control, ship crew skills and rescue contest.

The Sea Cup is held within the International Army Games – 2017, which started in Russia on July 29. The Games, which are attended by more than 150 teams from 28 countries, will be held in Russia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan and China until August 12.
