Despite a ceasefire reached between Armenia and Azerbaijan back in 1994 following the Nagorno- Karabakh War, Azerbaijani civilians, including children, still became the victims of Armenian aggression. Last night, the aggressors killed two more Azerbaijani civilians.

On July 4 at 20:40, the Armenian armed forces, located in the occupied territories of Azerbaijan, subjected to fire the Alkhanli village of Fizuli region, using 82 and 120 millimeter mortars and heavy grenade launchers. As a result of this provocation of Armenia, two residents of the village – Guliyeva Sahiba and her two-year-old granddaughter Guliyeva Zahra were killed. Another resident Guliyeva Sarvinaz, who got fragment wounds as a result of the shelling, was taken to the military hospital and was operated on.

Azerbaijan has already informed the relevant international structures about the provocation. However, the OSCE Minsk Group, which is working to find a peaceful solution to the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, has only made another declarative statement, “calling upon the sides of the conflict to cease military action.”

Spokesman for the Azerbaijani Foreign Ministry Hikmat Hajiyev noted that this Armenian aggression is nothing other than the act of vandalism and it once again proves the terrorist nature of the state of Armenia. He also added that Armenia’s direct and deliberate attacks against the Azerbaijani civilian population and civilian objects constitute a serious violation of international humanitarian and human rights law.

Residents of the frontline Azerbaijani settlements are frequently wounded and killed in their homes or on their farms due to frequent ceasefire violations by the Armenian armed forces. Azerbaijani children are frequent victims of the Armenian terrorism. In March 2011, nine-year-old Fariz Badalov was shot in the head by an Armenian sniper while playing in the courtyard in Aghdam region. In July of the same year, 13-year-old Azerbaijani girl Aygun Shahmaliyeva fell victim to Armenia’s inhumane and immoral policy in the Alibayli village. She tragically died as a result of the explosion of a toy with an explosive device, which the Armenian side deliberately dropped into the river flowing to the village.

Meanwhile, Armenia couldn’t frighten the Azerbaijani population living near the frontline. “Armenians will never manage to scare us by death. We lived here, we will continue to live and we will die on this land,” the residents of Alkhanli village told APA.

The villagers noted that the murder of an elderly woman and her granddaughter and wound of another resident is a manifestation of the vandalism of the Armenian army. “It is a serious crime against humanity. Even in conditions of war it is forbidden to open fire on children or women,” said the resident of the village Matlab Guliyev.

Chief Executive of Fizuli region Ali Aliyev, in turn, noted that currently the situation in Fizuli region is stable. He also said that the residents of the village aren't afraid of such provocations of Armenians.

“Armenians cannot frighten us. They have many times committed such provocations. Currently there is no fear among the population,” he told Milli.az.

Thus, Armenia has again resorted to a vile act and killed two other Azerbaijani citizens who were living their quiet life in their native village. However, the international community has again turned a blind eye to this terrible crime.

Today, it is obvious that there will always be escalation of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict until Armenian troops withdraw from the occupied lands of Azerbaijan. Only the de-occupation of Azerbaijani territories is the main condition for the full and lasting settlement of this conflict. Baku has called for peace talks for many years and has used all of its diplomatic resources. However, Yerevan, using the silence of the international community, still continues to maintain the status quo, to stall for time and to kill innocent Azerbaijani civilians.
